Lockdown Valentine's Day Date Ideas

The world may be at a standstill but this can’t keep us from enjoying Valentine’s day! Here are some social distancing-inspired yet still fun Valentines day ideas you can try with your special someone.
1. Online Museum Tour
As romantic it is to tour the world’s best museums on this special day, most of them are still closed. But nothing can stop us from virtually touring them though! Google Arts and Culture has recently teamed up with some 2500 museums all over the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, The National Gallery in London, and so much more.
Browse any one of these museums and get your romantic art fix at the comfort of your own home. You can visit Google Arts and Culture for any of its museum selection or you can tour the iconic Louvre on their own website.
2. Movie Night
In lieu of your typical movie date involving packed cinemas, you can just do a cozy Netflix movie night. You can make your own popcorn or order takeaway food for your awesome V-day movie marathon. It's not the movies but hey, it's much cozier to watch your favorite films at home - not to mention it helps you avoid the big crowds.
3. Virtual Escape Rooms
Fan of problem solving and playing detective? How about a virtual escape room date? If you haven't tried an escape room yet, Valentine's day is a good day to start! You'll be in a *virtual* room looking for clues to solve a specific scenario in a limited time. There are a few virtual rooms you can try, like The Escape Game, The Grimm Escape, The Bank Heist, Hogwarts Digital Escape Room, and Mystery Escape Room. Each game costs at least $10 (some up to $75) to book - but hey, what's a few bucks for a special Valentine's day date?
And if you really enjoyed your virtual escape room date, you can always try the real immersive game once the pandemic is over.
4. Watch Concert Recordings
If you're tired of movies or don't want to play detective for Valentine's, you and your date can watch your favorite band's concert instead. You can check out YouTube for past concert recordings, but you can also check out livestreams on Stageit or this regularly updated concert list blog from Billboard.
5. Nature Hikes
For a more outdoorsy V-day date alternative, you can also try scenic nature hikes on less crowded parks. While you're at it, you can bring your drone with you to take photos of your special moments together! At the very least, bring with you these budget-friendly intermediate drones or if you'd like optimum controls, you can try these advanced drones.
Take your drone to your beach date!
Intermediate drones like the Blue Jay and Blue Heron feature an HD camera, one-key lift/land, altitude control, and headless mode. Altitude hold means that a drone will hover in place and won't scoot away as soon as you turn it on. Headless mode, on the other hand, means that the drone orients itself to you, so there's no need to figure out which is left, right, front or back.
The Shadow Hex drone a.k.a. the 'Good Boy'
In addition to these cool controls, more advanced drones, like the Shadow Hex, feature more crisp image captures and an RTH (return home) function so it can come back to you with a press of a button. Good boy, huh?
6. Cool Games
Playing games is also one of the best way to spend Valentine's day together. Whether it's online games, old-school board games, or high-tech toy games (like an indoor drone race with hand-controlled drones), it's a nice twist to spend Valentine's with adrenaline-pumping games!
